About Us
The HERO Clinic was developed by therapists & doctors to provide childhood diagnostics & treatments to superheroes
The HERO Clinic began with a mission: to help children become the heroes we know they can be through careful diagnosis and ongoing treatment.
The HERO Clinic was started by speech therapists Chris Grotewiel and Sherri Germann, owners of Central Missouri Therapy SPOT, as well as pediatrician Dr. Adam Wheeler.
Our diagnostic and care teams believe true heroes are forged in the fires of crisis. Empathy is often developed through struggle, and we recognize that children who struggle in school and elsewhere develop stronger empathy for their peers and others around them. Adolescents who face the challenges of anxiety and depression develop “combat skills” that allow them to succeed in a world that desperately needs emotionally intelligent superheroes. Toddlers, who can often struggle to adapt to a larger world outside their home need a place where they can develop their unique personalities to be celebrated as a gift.
Yes, childhood mental health and development concerns are serious. Depression, anxiety, and failure to thrive in or out of school can be devastating for families. However, that suffering creates real and lost lasting change for both children and families. The HERO Clinic believes in addressing children’s needs at every stage of life, and early intervention can make a world of difference. As a society, we desperately need heroes with different points of view, empathy, and strength of character. The HERO Clinic believes in helping children and families to develop skills to better address the needs of children and society.
